Family home of John Paul II – 7 Kościelna Street

The town of my childhood, family home, the church of my christening…

Anyway, it all started in this town, in Wadowice. Life started, and school started, studies started, the theatre started, and the priesthood started.

And the house was just here, behind my back, next to the church. And when I loo

The Town Museum – 4 Kościelna Street

Formerly a public eating place

The Virgin Mary’s Offertory Minor Basilica.

With great adoration I kiss the threshold of the House of God – Wadowice’s parish church, and the font in which I was joined with Christ and accepted by the community of His Church. In this church I went to my first confession and had the Holy Communion. I was an altar boy here. I thanked God for th

The Building of the Municipal Council - previously a boys-school – John Paul II square

I arrive to this town overwhelmed with strong emotions: to the place where I was born, to the parish church in which I was baptized and to the community that I was attached to for eighteen years of my life, from birth till the secondary school-leaving examination. When I look at the main square, a

Karol Hagenhuber’s cake shop – 15 John Paul II Square

There was a cake shop. After our secondary school leaving exams we went there to have a cream-cake. Oh, we did handle it alright, these after-exam-cream-cakes.

The Marcin Wadowita Junior High School building – presently a secondary grammar school – 16 Mickiewicza Street

My thoughts and my heart bring me back not only to my home, where I was born, next to the church, but also to the primary school, here on the square and to Wadowice’s Marcin Wadowita junior high school, which I attended. Later the Michalina Mościcka girls-school was adjoined to it. Children from the

St. Joseph’s sanctuary and the Discalced Carmelite monastery – 22 Karmelicka Street

I send special greetings to the Carmelite monks from Wadowice Mount. We meet in special circumstances: this year, on the 27th of August, there will be the hundredth anniversary of the consecration of St. Joseph’s church founded by St. Raphael Kalinowski, adjacent to the monastery. Just like in my yo

St’ Peter’s Church – 90 Aleja Matki Boskiej Fatimskiej

I am grateful to God for the chance of consecrating the new St. Peter’s church in Wadowice.

The Barracks of the 12th Regiment of Infantry from Wadowice – 40 Lwowska Street

In 3 Maja Street there were the barracks of the 12th Regiment of Infantry. On the 11th of November and on the 3rd of May, there were celebrations on the main square. Camp service, then the parade in front of the barracks. We also took part in it, as students belonging to “Legion.”

The Congregation of the Sisters of Nazareth – 31 Lwowska Street

I remember with a warm heart all the congregation families who had their ministry in the Wadowice area, that is the Carmelite Fathers in Górka, the Pallotine fathers, the Pallotine priests in Kopiec, the Sisters of Nazareth who ran a nursery school.

Cultural Centre - the former building of The Gymnastic Society 'Sokół' - 1 Teatralna Street

We went from the junior high school to 'Sokół' for physical education classes. We also went there to watch plays.

And the stage in Wadowice showed the greatest classic plays, starting with 'Antigone'.
