Karol Wojtyła Route

John Paul II – the greatest and the most important figure for all of the 20th century world who managed to change “the face of this Land”.

While visiting our town, you will get the feeling of how proud the inhabitants of Wadowice are of their famous Countryman. The Museum in the Pope’s Native Home, the Basilica, the Sanctuary of St Joseph, the monuments, the names of the streets and the sightseeing routes all remind us about him and his family, wherever we go.

In 2005 a special sightseeing route was created, in order to help you discover the historical and cultural sites of Wadowice. The pope’s route (Szlak Karola Wojtyły) includes 11 places which are closely connected with the person of Karol Wojtyła. You will have no problem finding them – a special city map (with all the important places marked on it) which you can get at the local Tourist Information Centre, as well as the signposts scattered all over the town will help you find your way.
